Florida Lawmakers Make Their Move, Offering Gambling Expansion Bill
Florida lawmakers have been wining and dining with Las Vegas casino executives for the better part of this year. On Wednesday, the executives started to receive their payback when a bill was filed that would make the Sunshine State one of the major casino gambling destinations in the US.The bill is only the first step in what is expected to be a long process towards full scale Vegas-style casino gambling in Florida. The legislation calls for the creation of the Florida State Gaming Commission, which would oversee all regulations and expansion of gambling in the state moving forward. The bill also would bring relief to a state budget deficit that is amongst the worst of any state in the country. The promise of billions of dollars in tax revenue, along with thousands of temporary and permanent jobs is what is driving the Republican-led Legislature to push the casino resort gambling bill.Analysts have assumed that full-scale gambling was in the cards in Florida since Genting bought the current home of the Miami Herald. The building will be the future home of Resorts World Miami, another in the growing list of luxury resorts by Genting. The company is based in Malaysia, but has spent much of the past decade expanding across the world. Miami is one of the two destinations the bill would authorize for casino resort licenses. Broward and Miami-Dade Counties are already considered to be the gaming center of Florida, and the destination resorts would only add to reputation Miami has of being one of the top tourist destinations in the US.Broward has the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood that offers blackjack, baccarat, poker, and Incredible Hulk Slots. The Seminoles are watching the state closely when it comes to gambling expansion. If the state passes the gaming bill proposed today, it could lead to a legal battle with the tribe. Seminole lawyers have maintained that if the state adds new casinos, the compact that was signed last year between the state and the Seminoles would be voided.Las Vegas Sands would seem to be the other gaming company to make out if the gambling bill passes in Florida. LVS CEO Sheldon Adelson has been pitching casino resorts to Governor Rick Scott since Scott was elected. One of the first trips Scott took last year when he was elected was on a private plane that is owned by Adelson.Experts still believe that a bill passing this year to expand gambling would be a reach. There is plenty of opposition in Florida to more gambling, especially in Central and Northern Florida. Currently, lawmakers are only looking to add destination resorts in Broward and Miami-Dade.

For best gambling casinos and bonuses, have a look at casino portal gambling.ph. You will also find information about strategies, casino reviews and more.

His palms are sweaty and his heart is racing
but he smiles when he sees his cards.

“I can’t lose this one”
he says
with a big grin on his face.

Poker in cyberspace is perfect for anyone not having a poker face.

Johan Eriksson shows me his hand. A full house
queens full of jacks. There are 260 dollars in the pot. Jack from Ohio just folded his hand
but Hans from Norway and Steven from Australia both called Johan’s 20 dollar bet.

He shows me his hand again. “Can’t lose this one”
he says for the second time. A click on the mouse and Johan is 320 dollar richer. He was correct
he couldn’t lose that one.

We are neither in Las Vegas or in Atlantic City
but in a small one bedroom apartment in Copenhagen
Denmark.

The battle is fought on the internet
where cyberspace is lightening up Johan’s computer screen.

The online poker room is called full tilt poker
the server is in Costa Rica somewhere
and the players are from all over the world.

When poker online started at the end of the nineties
it created mixed feelings amongst real time casino poker players.

Some took the view that it would damage real poker casino games in casinos by tempting regular customers to only play poker online.

Others were fascinated that they could remain at home and play poker (in the underwear) against real people from the whole world.

Online poker was as sent from heaven for those who felt uncomfortable in a casino poker room or had a hard time finding a poker room near to home.

“You have to be careful”
Johan says
in the middle of a new hand. “Internet poker is twice as fast as live poker
so the money comes and goes just as quickly”.

“Damn
he caught an Ace on the river”
Johann shouts. “Lost 30 bucks on that hand. Well
well
easy come
easy go”

Johan started off playing poker at high school
but unlike most of us
didn’t quit playing this great game.

He has since the high school days dreamt of watching the “big boys” play
so he bought himself a plane ticket to Las Vegas at the tender age of 21. In Las Vegas he discovered the poker game of Texas Holdem.

He introduced the game to his poker buddies in Danemark
and the game of Five Card Draw was dead and buried for ever.

Johan just returned from his seventh trip to The Sin City. “It’s the same routine every time”
he says. Straight in to the Hotel Mirage
dumping off the suitcases
and heading straight to the poker room.

He never gambles in the casino. Just plays true poker
and spends the majority of his vacation time playing tournament poker. To him
this is the best holiday any unmarried guy can have.

His goal every time is to win the equivalent of airplane and hotel costs. He has managed that the last four times
but haven’t won a big tournament yet.

Little says the first volume focused on teaching fundamentals and basics, and that Volume Two goes into how to correctly apply the basics learned in Volume One. On this week’s Strategy with Kristy podcast, Little discusses a few key topics in Volume II. Here is a snippet from the interview: You have a section in the book about tells. Can you talk about a few basic tells? First, I’ll talk about why tells don’t really matter if you don’t know how to play well and you’re making fundamental blunders in a hand. If you have a tell that your opponent has a strong hand, it doesn’t really matter that much if you’re going to be vastly overplaying your hands or playing too tight. A tell should generally shift a really close call into a fold or a really close call into a raise, or something like that. It should help sway the borderline decisions. Your really standard decisions shouldn’t really sway too much unless your opponent just has a blatantly clear tell. For example, if a player starts breathing really hard when he has a good hand. That’s sort of a basic tell that a lot of players, even competent players, will do. They’ll start breathing really heavy whenever they have a strong hand or they’ll start blinking a lot whenever they have a weak hand. I outline quite a few of these tells in the book. They are pretty much what I’ve observed at the poker tables and also discussed with other poker players. They are all pretty good standard tells that most people don’t control or don’t think about controlling. Can you explain what a reverse tell is and what you think about them? Reverse tells are when you’re trying to throw off someone who knows the basic tells. I generally don’t do reverse tells too often because I think they’re kind of fishy in general. The $3,500 re-entry event, which originally ran from Sept. 18 through 22, 2011, was the largest event in WPT history with 1,313 players. In Part I, Ricky Hale became the first elimination. It happened when Bobby Oboodi opened for 340,000 with and was met with an all-in reraise to 2,080,000 by Hale, who held . The board ran out , and the 42-year-old from England was eliminated in sixth place for $186,585. Then, in Part II, Darren Elias was eliminated when he opened for 500,000 on the button, only to have Oboodi three-bet to 1.1 million from the big blind. Elias thought for a moment before moving all in for 3,595,000. Oboodi snap-called and the cards were turned up: Showdown Elias was clearly disappointed and found no relief as the board ran out . He was eliminated in fifth place for $230,610 while Oboodi held a stack that was comprised of nearly 50 percent of the chips in play. Heres how things stacked up at the top of Part IIIs broadcast: WPT Borgata Poker Open Final Table Seat Player Chips 1 Jin Hwang 9,400,000 2 EMPTY 3 Fred Goldberg 3,240,000 4 Bobby Oboodi 18,810,000 5 Daniel Buzgon 7,865,000 6 EMPTY First Hand: Fred Goldberg opened for 725,000 from first position with only to run into the of Jin Hwang, who moved all in from the small blind. Goldberg gave it a little thought before saying, Nice hand, and sliding his cards to the muck. Only Looked at One: After Jin Hwang opened for 675,000 from the button with , Fred Goldberg looked down at and moved all in for 1,185,000. Bobby Oboodi made the call from the big blind, and Hwang got out of the way. Come on, Goldberg said before revealing his other cards, which turned out to be the . Showdown I had an ace, Hwang admitted to the two players in the race. The flop didnt inspire much reaction from either player, and neither did the turn. I dont know why you folded, man, Oboodi said incredulously to Hwang after the blanked on the river, referencing the fact that the latter would have won with a wheel. With that, Goldberg doubled. Dont Do It: Action folded to Fred Goldberg in the small blind and he moved all in with for 3.315 million. Do you want to sweat this with me? Oboodi asked from the big blind. Goldberg leaned over and watched as his opponent squeezed out the and . I call, Oboodi said and it was off to the races yet again. I like it, I like it, Goldberg said before requesting his one time. The crowd was on their feet as the flop came out giving Goldberg a pair of queens and the lead. The turn prompted a, Dont do it, dont do it, dont do it, from Goldberg, who added, Hes only got one out. While that was true, any club would result in a chopped pot, which is exactly what happened when the peeled off. Goldberg threw his one good hand (the other was in a brace), and uttered some bleeped-out expletives before pulling back his chips. Fred Goldberg Eliminated in Fourth Place: Bobby Oboodi was first to act and opened for 600,000 with . Action folded to Fred Goldberg, who made the call with from the big blind and then checked dark. The flop gave both players top pair, though Oboodis kicker was best. He promptly led out for 600,000, Goldberg instantly moved all in for 3.255 million, and Oboodi snap-called. Goldberg only had a 29 percent chance of winning the pot, which dropped to 17 percent on the turn. You gotta make me sweat? Oboodi asked from the rail where he was watching with friends. Much to his supporters delight, the appeared on the river and their man took down the pot, eliminating Goldberg in fourth place for $280,925. Ones to Watch: In the latest edition of Ones to Watch, which highlights various young up-and-coming poker pros, this years class talked about Dan OBrien. His support group in Jason Mercier and Allen Bari, who are among OBriens closest friends, impressed his Ones-to-Watch counterparts. Everyone agreed that gave him access to valuable insight, but it didnt help in this tournament as OBrien failed to make the money. Daniel Buzgon Eliminated in Third Place: Bobby Oboodi opened for 800,000 on the button with only to have Daniel Buzgon move all in from the small blind for 5.66 million holding . Jin Hwang was in the big blind, slowly squeezed out , and made the call, while Oboodi asked for a count before getting out of the way. The flop wasnt particularly good for Buzgon because it gave his opponent a gut-shot straight draw, which completed on the turn. Despite that, Buzgon could still win with a fourth club on the river, but it was not meant to be as the rolled off. Buzgon shook hands with both his opponents before exiting in third place for $335,433. I was really card dead and just no chips ever, Buzgon said in his post-elimination interview. Its kind of frustrating, but if you lose a flip, you lose a flip. Heads-Up Play: Jin Hwang was looking to become just the third player in WPT history to start a final table as the short stack and claim victory, the other two being Phil Laak and Alex Gomes. Not only that, he was looking for a nice parlay because he got into the Main Event through a satellite. His victory would have made for quite the story, but everything seemed to be going right for Bobby Oboodi, who had dominated the final table. In what would be the last hand of the tournament, Hwang opened for 1.25 million with and was called by Oboodi who was holding . The flop gave Oboodi a flush draw, but both players checked. The turn was gin for Oboodi as it gave him a flush and Hwang a pair of jacks. The former led out for 1.6 million, Hwang thought for a bit before moving all in for 12.85 million, and Oboodi made the call after double-checking his cards. He cant win if its a spade, Oboodi said as he made his way to his rail. Spade, spade, spade, Oboodi willed as the appeared on the river. With that, Hwang was eliminated in second place while Oboodi became the Season X WPT Borgata Poker Open Champion. There are just no words, Im stumbling over my words, Oboodi said in his post-victory interview with Mike Sexton. Its honestly about time I won this.

Top 5 Poker TV Shows
published on 03/04/11 at 9:00 am Looking to catch some great poker action on your television set this week? Then, this is the article that clues you in about where all the poker action is. So, read on to find out which TV channels you have to set your dial to for watching shows packed with poker glitz!! #1 Poker TV Show: GSNs High Stakes PokerThis show was launched in 2006 and was one-of-a-kind among all existing poker shows because one could sit alongside the top poker professionals from all corners of the globe, such as Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu of PokerStars, and Jen Harman as opposed to the tournament format of other shows. Thus, this show allowed viewers to watch the poker biggies gamble with their personal cash (tons of it, really considering each player had to buy-in using USD 100,000 with variations of deals one doesnt normally get to see anywhere else. #2 Poker TV show: ESPNs World Series of PokerThis show has got to be the biggest ever in televised poker event history since nowhere else can viewers tune in to such a tremendous variety of poker games. You have Texas Holdem, 7-card Stud andOmaha played high with the Main Event being the real crowd puller because it is here that the nail-biting finish table action has everyone betting on who will walk away with the No Limit Holdem tournaments multi-million dollar first prize! #3 Poker TV show: World Poker TourThis show definitely has all the poker nuts tuning in to the WPT and also dragging along family and friends to watch the action after it launched with much fanfare in 2003. It rapidly climbed up the TRP charts and became the Travel Channels top rated program because of great poker tournament coverage from across the countrys best casinos. Each hand that is relayed on the TV screen causes hearts of poker fans to beat faster with the pace of the action speeding up across all the different channels the show airs on: from Fox Sports to Travel Channel to GSN, which is sponsored by PokerStars.net, viewers have a choice of which channel they want to change the dial for in order to be part of the poker claim to fame just like the pros featured on this show! #4 Poker TV show: Bravos Celebrity Poker ShowdownThis show really built up the games popularity, much like the shows listed above because it brought in a niche audience to watch their favorite stars vying for great poker prize pools amid light-hearted bantering and some fabulous on-screen chemistry between the hosts: Phil Gordon of FullTilt and Dave Foley who came across as naturals when it came to informative commentary of the shows action. Lots of poker fun, cool prizes, celebrity flavors and the rumors of poker veteran Phil Hellmuth taking to the hosting keep this TV show on the hot list of many card game enthusiasts. #5 Poker TV show: GSNs Poker RoyaleThis TV show about poker is unique because it combines two opposing groups that come together to duke it out at the poker table, across different segments like Girls versus Boys or Celebrities versus Professionals. Three players from each group face each other at the No Limit Holdem tournament and compete for the host of prizes and of course, fan favor!
